Laura Gainor
Founder of Pickleball in the Sun and Mahjong in the Sun, Laura Gainor brings a unique experiential approach to teaching mahjong. With a deep passion for both pickleball and mahjong, she has built her brands around connection, community, and the lifestyle that comes with them — from courts to tables. Laura loves introducing new players to the game in a fun, social way, making Mahjong 101 approachable, engaging, and memorable for everyone.
Kennedy Blair
Kennedy Blair is a true people person and natural community builder. By day, she serves as a People & Operations Specialist at Pro Shop, and locally she’s been a familiar face at The Pickle Garden Pro Shop at The Yards. Her energy and enthusiasm shine through in every Mahjong 101 lesson she leads, creating a welcoming and fun environment for beginners. We’re excited to have Kennedy as part of the Mahjong in the Sun team for this special Mahj & Mingle experience at The Yards.

As part of our support, Pickleball in the Sun is excited to host a Custom Paddle Design Contest for the event with our friends at Ivy Cut Pickleball! Here's your chance to unleash your creativity and contribute to the fundraising efforts.
How it Works:

Get Creative: Design your unique paddle! OR submit a photo of an already completed piece of artwork you’d like to see on a pickleball paddle!

The Picklr Heritage Cup: A Wood Paddle Tournament
Happening Nationwide at The Picklr Locations! The Picklr Heritage Cup is a throwback event hosted on National Pickleball Day, August 8, to celebrate the sport’s origins and the 60th anniversary of pickleball.
Tournament Details:
All participants will compete in this unique event using wood paddles to recreate a classic pickleball experience for players of all skill levels. This is your chance to rally like it’s 1965, so come dressed in your best 60’s retro attire.
Cost:
FREE to all members and non-members
Tournament Format & Details:
Format: Traditional partner pool play leading into a single-elimination bracket.
Skill Divisions: Throwing it back – beginner, intermediate, and advanced
Age Requirement: 8+ (grouped by skill level).
Pool Play:
Each team plays every team in their pool once.
Round Robin Option for Seeding: If there are six or fewer teams in a division, all teams will compete in a single pool.
Sign-ups will be capped based on your club’s court capacity per division.
Depending on the number of pools and teams in each division, the top team(s) from each pool will advance to a single-elimination bracket.
Scoring:
Games are played to 11 points.
Win by 2, capped at 13 (except in medal matches, which have no cap).

About Noé Khlif
Born and raised in Marseille, France, Noé Khlif has had a racket in hand since age four. He quickly rose through the tennis ranks, training at the French Federation Center from ages 12 to 16. As the #1 Ranked Junior Tennis player in France in 2011 and 2012, he dominated the national stage, securing three gold medals at the French national championships in both singles and doubles. His collegiate tennis career at the University of Illinois was equally impressive, culminating in a Big 10 conference championship and an Elite 8 appearance at the NCAA Championships.
Noé has successfully transitioned to pickleball and is now one of the fastest-rising stars on the PPA and MLP tours. His achievements include winning the $25k Kitchen Open tournament, clinching six PPA Quarterfinal finishes in his first six months of competing, and becoming the MLP Challenger League Champion.

The Jay Fund provides comprehensive financial, emotional, and practical support to families tackling childhood cancer. Donate a gift card of any amount for groceries, gas, holiday gifts for their children, and general household expenses to help these families focus on what matters most - their child's care. We will collect gift cards at the event.

The event is free and you must register each person on Court Reserve by creating an account with the Maguire Family Pickleball Center. Once registering, the YMCA will approve your Court Reserve account.

Event Details:
The Omni Amelia Island Round Robin Tournament located in Fernandina Beach, Florida. The tournament will be played at the Omni Amelia Island pickleball courts. (7 outdoor hard courts)
Located at 142 Racquet Park Drive, Fernandina Beach 32034
Registration fee is $35 per player plus $10 for each event entered. (2 events max you can enter)
The schedule is as follows
Saturday April 15th- Men's and Ladies Doubles
Sunday April 16th-Mixed Doubles
(subject to change due to event participants)
Play will begin both Saturday and Sunday at 8am. Please be prepared for at least a 2.5-3 hours for each event. Specific start times will be emailed to players 3-5 days prior to each event.
